Hiroshima trip

Trip

Today, I would like to show you some photos from my trip to Hiroshima.
While I was in Hiroshima, I visited Miyajima, Hiroshima Castle, and the Yamato Museum in Kure.
I will introduce each of them in order.

First, I would like to talk about Hiroshima Castle.
The inside of the castle keep was made of reinforced concrete. I am the type of person who prefers to see castles in their original form, so I felt a little disappointed.
I heard that the castle was burned because it was close to the hypocenter of the atomic bomb.
As it was a castle built by the Mori clan, who ruled the Chugoku region, it is a very impressive castle.

I ate ramen and fried chicken.
I ended up choosing a menu that I could probably eat even outside of Hiroshima (lol).
Next are some photos of Miyajima.

This is the torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine.
It was bigger than I had imagined.

When the tide goes out, you can get this close.

There were a lot of deer everywhere.

The deer are very cute, but you need to be careful because they will eat paper that people are holding.
Next, we moved to another place and went to Kure.
Kure is a town that once prospered as a naval port of the former Imperial Japanese Navy.
Even today, there is a base of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force there.

This place is cool as well, isn’t it?
I could watch this all day—it’s enough to make me eat three bowls of rice.

There was a sightseeing boat that lets you tour the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force base.
It’s amazing that you can see it from such a close distance.

Finally, we visited the Yamato Museum.
This was the thing I was most looking forward to.

This is a full-scale model of the battleship Yamato.
It’s huge.

These are models of a Zero fighter and an oxygen torpedo.

There was also a full-scale model outside the building.

This is the Iron Whale Museum.
It’s a submarine that the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force used in the past.
